MIAMI (CBSMiami) – While the University of Miami continues to await word from the NCAA on the Nevin Shapiro scandal; the school has instituted new rules it hopes will prevent a similar incident in the future.

UM officials told school booster they may no long provide occasional meals for athletes or host players at their homes, even though both are allowed under current NCAA rules.

The changes come after Shapiro alleged that he had provided impermissible benefits to 72 UM players and recruits from 2002 through 2010.

Shapiro’s allegations included meals and entertainment at his home.

The NCAA has provided no guidance on when or if they move forward with the investigation sparked by the Shapiro allegations.
